    Two lighting periods per day?

I was talking with a guy at the local petstore and he tells me he has his lighting come on twice a day. He feels that it provides better growth of the corals. Anyone hear of this before?

I heard this before from a guy shopping in a local petstore. He said that it has improved coral growth. The other benfit is you get to enjoy the tank at night with the lights on. He told me that the lighting period he keeps is 4hours on, 2 hours off and then back on for 4hours.

I run mine 10 Hours a day(500w halides) Morning when I can enjoy it, and afternoon to evening with a 3 hour break in between. My corals are thriving, and have never looked better. Shrooms are multiplying, LPS are growing. I don't know if it is the break, but I'm not changing it!
