So I have decided to set my sump up right finally. My first chamber now has a cage (I found some acrylic plate and fabricated with holes at the top..will post photo) that houses my skimmer pump. I have decided to place the inlet from overflow dirrectly into this cage. Which allows everything to get skimmed...
